My father invited me for cooperation to renovate and propose extra floor to an apartment building in Prague. The task was very complex due to many different agents involved: investor, Prague’s Regulation Office, Heritage Department, and neighbors. The owner wanted a proposal to be as tallest as possible, while the Prague’s Regulation Office kept eye on parking spaces, adequate sun light, and other policies. The Heritage Department insisted on keeping the current expression of the building. At the same time the neighbors required zero intervention to their properties, they did not allow any access to their roofs, nor decrease sunlight on the roof windows. Our work included a study of the building shape and volume, and preparing documentation for a building permit. Building process still continues.
